Sudan scam: Suspended SP freed

The Special Court on Wednesday released
suspended SP Gupta Bahadur Shreshta on
general date. He was one of the members of

the board formed to procure APCs and other
logistics accused in the Sudan scam. A full
bench of Special Court comprising Chairman
Gauri Bahadur Karki and members Om
Prakash Mishra and Kedar Prasad Chalise
ruled that his role in making payments for those
procured items could not be established. The
court statement said Shreshta had attended a
meeting to approve the total expenditure for the Sudan mission and also signed on it, but his involvement in misappropriating the allocated budget couldn't be established.

Sudan scam: Special Court releases DIG, Inspector

The Special Court on Tuesday released former DIG Surendra Bahadur Pal and suspended Inspector Lal Govinda Shrestha, both accused in the Sudan scam, on general date.
The bench argued that Pal was not a member of the board formed to procure APCs and other logistics. It stated that his role in making payments for those items could not be established.
Likewise, the court said though Shrestha stated in his statement that he was present in various meetings of the procurement board, his signature did not match with the one in the said documents.
